Q: When does registration open?
A: Registration opens on June 17th, 2024. Early bird registration ends July 15th.
Q: What do games and practices look like?
A: The hockey season will include a balance of competitive hockey games and practices for improving skills. This balance will be determined by age/skill level at each Division, and will roughly adhere to the following:
A, B, and C Division: the first 2-3 ice times will be a combination of full practices and exhibition games. The balance of the regular season will consist of each team playing an equal number of games against the other teams in the Division. At the end of the regular season, an elimination playoff format will determine a Division champion.
Interspersed through the regular season will be 2-3 additional practice ice time, as logistics and needs are determined by the League and the Coaches.
D Division: ⅔ of the year will be 45 minutes practice and 30 minutes scrimmage. The final ⅓ of the year will be a round-robin “tournament” to determine a Division champion.
Q: What days and times will my child play?
A: Our ice times are at both Summit Centre in Abbotsford, and SportsPlex in Langley. Most teams have 1-2 ice times per week. Game days are as follows:
Mondays (evening): SportsPlex
Fridays (evening): SportsPlex and Summit Centre
Saturdays (afternoons and evenings): Summit Centre, SportsPlex
Q: If we are new to the league, do we need to get a reference letter from our church?
A: Yes! This is required prior to the season starting. You have the option to upload it during registration, or email it to us prior to the beginning of the season. We would prefer not to have to chase you for it!
Q: When will we know the game schedule?:
A: Please note that we can't make the schedule until the teams are created. We work very hard behind the scenes to pull the many details together each season. Please be patient as we finalize the schedule after the teams are rostered.
Q: Can my child be in the same team as their friend/cousin/schoolmate?
A: We receive many of these requests each year, and unfortunately we are unaable to accommodate each and every request. We will always place siblings who are in the same division on the same team, but we simply are unable to promise your child will be on the same team as any other player. Thank you for understanding!
Q: Is a neck guard mandatory?
A: Yes, your child cannot go onto the ice without a neck guard.
Division A: Grade 10, 11 and 12
Division B: Grade 7, 8 and 9
Division C: Grade 4, 5 and 6
Division D: Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2 and 3
Q: Can my child play in a division above their grade?
A: In situations where a player is significantly ahead skill-wise in the last year of their current division (ie a grade 6 player in C Division), the board/division rep/coach may choose to advance the player to a higher division after internal discussion and consultation with the parents.
Q: If my child is playing goalie, will they need their own goalie equipment??
A: A & B Division full-time goalies are required to have their own goalie equipment. We typically do not have full-time goalies for C & D Divisions, and we provide and rotate the gear as needed between players.
